HTC U Ultra is already being discounted

HTC’s first major smartphone of the year, the U Ultra, is already on sale less than two months after it launched.

In a world dominated by Apple and Samsung, the HTC U Ultra stands out by offering a secondary display. Originally, the device retailed for $749, but now HTC has cut the price down to $599 as part of its spring sale.

The U Ultra packs good specs in an sweet package. It features a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 821 processor, 64GB or 128GB storage with microSD expandability, 3,000mAh battery and a 12MP Ultrapixel camera all inside of what HTC calls a “liquid” glass body. But the function that stands out the most of the U Ultra is its smaller secondary display that shows ancillary information without taking up space on the main display.

It’s a cool device, but at a similar price to the iPhone, Pixel and Galaxy S8, it was a tough sell. The new discount should help make this specialty device more appealing.

HTC is also offering big discount on other devices like the HTC 10 ($200 off), HTC Bolt ($150 off, plus clear case) and HTC A9 ($300 off). With the Galaxy S8 coming out this week, however, you may want to save your money.
